WHAT. Seriously what the hell?! Did they change director or something? Just checked IMBD. They changed directors! But not from Insurgent, they changed director's after Divergent, so...
WHY IS ALLEGIANT SO CRAP?!
Ok, ok. It's not crap but it's just not a good film. So in effect-
Anyway, the CGI is awful, SO awful. The sound design is very weird, there's this element to it that simply doesn't work. Especially when they do this bizarre thing when the characters keep talking to bridge two scenes which, in fairness, does sometimes work. But here? It's just wrong. Plain wrong. The acting is fine. But it's just that, fine. I think the most amusing element of the entire film is the acting by the extras. Over-the-top would be a major understatement. It's as if they grabbed randomly at an acting school and chucked all of these first time actors onto the set of a major action film. 'Notice me! notice me!' is still ringing through my ears.
And the story! They story! Oh my God the story is dire. It darts all over the place and doesn't really have any hold. All the sci-fi elements don't really work (albeit probably because the CGI is so bad) and the script is pretty weak too. Although Miles Teller's character is alright but you can just tell that that's all him. No one is responsible for that performance because the other acting and characterisation is still painfully average.
Would I watch it again? No. But in fairness, I probably would see the sequel. Bloody consumerism.
In a sentence: I'm not angry, I'm just bitterly disappointed.
