Bloody hell.
I've legitimately no memory of this film.
Fuck.
Ok one sec...

Oh FUCK!
Sorry I remember now.
This was a film stretched between two time periods, war time Ireland and then modern Ireland. It was an extremely disturbing (and I'm sure a more than accurate portrayal) on the horrors of this past society. The treatment of women and how the facade of their mental wellbeing was used to systematically harm anyone who fell into bad circumstance. With what begins as merely a state of gried, in Rooney Mara's character, is intensified to a full blown mental breakdown as she is continually mistreated by doctors and staff, all with their own selfish agendas. I can't say this is an enjoyable film, i wouldn't watch it again, and yet its darkness made me not want to think about afterwards- despite the fact i know it was an extremely thought provoking film. I guess i just couldn't let myself think about it, it was that dark.
In a sentence: Tolerable for a one time viewing but too disturbing to be viewed beyond that.
or maybe it was simply too slow to watch more than once? but tat makes me feel bad to say...
Also Mara's accent is not acceptable. But that's not really her fault.
