Ok so i saw this film in possibly one of the coolest circumstances that I've ever seen a film in.
Woody Harrelson was actually in the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse. Like he was there in the flesh. He walked down the stairs next to me. It was fucking cool. He went punting for christ sake!
Anyway.
The film.
I think if i hadn't of known this film was based on some true events from a night in Woody Harrelson's life I would find it incredible difficult to forgive the central character, in fact, i wouldn't have forgiven him- i would have hated him.
So basically, this film was this massive project whereby Woody (i don't want to sound like i dick but i do feel like we're on first name basis now given i have shared a room with him) shot the whole sequence with a single camera over one night, depicting a real event that happened to him in London some 10 years ago. In addition to this, he then broadcast this life across the US and UK. I know, he's mental. Needless to say i was very surprised by how well the film ended up, considering the context from which it was made. But i guess i shouldn't have underestimated his talent. Because the film was genuinely very good, even outside of the way it was filmed/distributed etc. But needless to say the story was infuriating- Woody even more so. I genuinely hated the guy in it. He's so fucking irritating throughout. But maybe that was the point? I don't know, any ounce more though and i genuinely wouldn't have been able to enjoy it, there's testing an audience with a ballend central lead and then theres almost pushing us too far to the point where you're no longer able to enjoy the film.
In a sentence: Thoroughly enjoyable considering how irritating Harrelson's character is.
