What an incredible film from an incredible director. I'm going to be honest, it did take me a few films to actually 'get' Wes Anderson. Or at least to appreciate just about how great they were. But now that I finally feel like i can, or at least am closer to fully appreciating it, i can say this film is pure genius. The central love story is seriously cute but more than that its saying something quite poignant about childhood and how despite from the outside they're connection may seem juvenile in reality, or at least to the two people in question, it's very much real. I don't know if that comment had as much substance as I would like it to have but i think the message is still clear, its fucking good.
In a sentence: So much love for these films, and Moonrise Kingdom is no exception.
