Such an interesting film. Weird, but the engrossing plot can't be denied.
The idea that something so horrific could occur in such a picturesque, 'perfect', 'All-American' suburban neighbourhood is fascinating and not to mention controversial. I love how they've taken stereotypical views on those kinds of lives (that they're perfect) and totally massacred it. They've complicated a section of society - youth - and depicted something a lot of cinema is afraid of: mental illness.
The idea that all of these girls, from a single family, all committed suicide is such an intriguing premise (and yeah I know, I sound like an emotionless arse right now). But above all of the plot lines the production of the film is also intriguing. The cinematography, soundtrack, use of the voiceovers- everything, bloody everything!
In a sentence: A fascinating look on youth, depicted in a a fascinating way.
