How To Be Single

I literally just finished this film.

Like for real, I'm so far past the credits I've got to the weird bit at the end with all the different languages.

Ok, so this film is a rom-com, it's that cliched vibe we're all used to but, at least its trying. It's atleast trying to break the genre slightly. It's doing that whole thing where it's like: this isn't what you're expecting! Even though someone else has already done that film, I appreciate the effort to try something new. But let's be real here, it draws on a LOT that we've already seen. One major film that springs to mind is 'He's Just Not That Into You'. There is even the exact same character, the guy who works in the bar who undermines his gender into a walking sex object? Yeah, he's in this one too. He even own a bar as well! Like do they really think they're getting away with that? Well probably, and let's be honest, they probably are, but still- it's the exact same humour, pretty much.

But in all fairness,, and I know - long paragraph to get through- sorry (they're definitely longer when I write them straight after...) - BACK TO THE MAIN MENU - anyway, what?

Right, in all fairness, this film is doing something slightly different. It's saying it's not focussed on relationships, but that's all the film ever goes on about... but still, the lead is slightly unconventional and Dakota Johnson is surprisingly likeable, or just, likeable. Rebel Wilson is, of course, fab and the film is quite funny.

Did I enjoy it for the film that it was? A rom-com that is trying to be more unconventional than it actually is? Yes. It's a Friday night in watch with a pizza. Am I watching it again? no. Of course not. But I enjoyed it. And in a weird way it actually made me cry... I know...

Shit.

Anyway, after that insanely long review that I won't re-read (p.s. I never do, hence all mistakes that entail) -

In a sentence: Yeah, it's decent, it's what it is on the front cover, you like the front cover? Watch it. Front cover doesn't appeal to you? Than don't watch it. I know- over a sentence again, kind of fitting for this insanely long review though.
