This is a film that will challenge you, shock you and amaze you. It's one of those films which is subtly brilliant, where the action is somehow the backdrop to a more important character development. I don't know. I can't really articulate it. Amy Adam's character is the clear hero of the film and yet there is never this shouty shouty scream moment. You know, like in other films where there is some kind of injustice and there is this epic speech and then the 'villain' is like 'Ho Shiit! yeah sorry let's do what you want to do.' Instead she uses pure ingenuity, brains, to make the bad guys lose. There is no epic speech, there is only how smart she is. And she's a woman! She's a fucking woman! Thank you Hollywood, we can be the hero's and the smartest people in the room! Ok, I get that this isn't the first time that there has been a smart female lead but it was nice to see, i'm not gonna lie. Ok, it was nice to see a smart female lead who wasn't wearing a lycra tube top. Yeah, it was nice to see an actual, normal, woman who was smart and the female lead. Yeah.
The film will have you guessing right up until the final twist. I'm just gonna say it, i think it's the same level of genius as Inception, and that's pretty high praise. Except instead of Leo we have Amy Adams, who's obviously better. She's so fucking badass.
In a sentence: Can't recommend it enough, catch it on a big screen if you can, it's worth it.
